Do you listen?

This one may get me in trouble. Wait no, this one would get me in trouble if readers of consequence frequented this blog. So, for now I'm thankful there is no traffic coming through the site. This could turn into a rant of sorts....

It, life - us as humans, is about listening. Here I go again. What I mean to say is that we as humans must communicate to live. We must convey ideas, confirm beliefs, get new information, and just maintain levels of sociability. This process of communication breaks down very quickly if we don't listen. Okay, this is all obvious, and by now you have your middle finger up to the screen telling me to get off my high horse of knowing what is best. Rightly so, but hold on. The foreshadowing above is to ask the simple question. Do you listen, and if so, who taught you how to listen?

I think school should focus on listening more. I mean when you were a kid, it was "listen to so and so", over and over again, but what the hell does "listen to" mean. It's left wide open when we are young for us to interpret- and quite frankly I am pissed about it (hindsight is always 20/20). Unfortunately, "listen to" - I think- get's interpreted by many at a young age as "nod my head yes, so I stop getting scolded, think about what I want while doing so, and then wait for words to stop coming out of other persons mouth so I can go back to doing what I want" This of course gets carried into later stages of life. Okay, enough from me. Here's the final question to mull over. How many great listeners do you know?

It's obviously way too late- I need to catch some z's
